What Was I Thinking?
What could have motivated Schindler to sell her Florida home, her car, and give up all her possessions, save a tennis racket, a guitar, and just enough clothing to fit in a medium size suitcase, and begin her worldwide journey?
According to St. Augustine, "The world is a book and those who do not travel only read one page." Diann has not only opened her world and read more than one page, she has traveled 40 counties in 3 years and written two books along the way: Novel “Just A Girl” and “The Essential Guide to a Live of Travel: the ABC’s of International Travel.”.
Former college president, author, and international solo nomad, Dr. Diann Schindler, shares what she was thinking and why, and she entertains us with humorous challenges and moving life-changing experiences.

Imagine travelling abroad on a daily budget less than your budget at home. Yes, not only it is possible, it is amazing and amazingly easy.
Diann Schindler, Ph.D., author of "The Essential Guide to a Life of Travel: The ABC's of International Travel" and solo nomad to over 40 countries shares her strategies for affordable travel and fun stories. Diann was a resident of Amelia Island and member of Newcomers but she sold everything a couple of years ago and went travelling.

During my travels, everyone I meet is “impressed” or “fascinated” with my choice as a solo, senior...to sell everything and travel the world. Imagine, people call me their hero! And, they want to know more about what I’m doing, where I am going and have been, and how I’m managing my unique retirement.
I enjoy telling my story, whether it’s posting pictorial galleries, blogging, podcasting, playing my guitar, or speaking to groups, large and small. I’m eager to share, inform, educate, entertain, and yes, perhaps, even inspire you, your organization or your clients with my story, how I became a “geriatric rolling stone,” living on a budget in a world of abundance, engaging in a wonderful variety of cultures, and meeting amazing people that often become close, lifelong friends.
